Nightmare Before Homecoming – NPHC Step show, Saturday, October 4th
This year’s Homecoming started with a different twist, premiering the first NPHC Homecoming step show. It will be the first of many; it had a great attendance, with over 250 people there to support. Performances by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated. It was themed around Halloween; some of the themes were: The Purge, Sinners, and Thriller, and they all came together well. The winners of this step show were Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, whose theme was the Sinners. They started stepping with blindfolds to seal the deal.
Homecoming Court Pageant – Monday, October 6th
The Homecoming Court Pageant is to watch your fellow Argonauts show their Argo Spirit. This year’s contestants were Cole Garcia, Jeff Bissainthe, Victor Lopez-Seguira, and Tuesday Williams for the men. For the ladies, it was Louis Sabagal, Rebekah Walters, Asriyah Forshey, and Lundy Phillips. Cannon Fest – Tuesday, October 7th
Cannon Fest was packed with school spirit and energy. Keeping the vibes lively with music being all around, Cannon Fest had all types of food around as well, with local spots like Bam’s Snowball and Pika Grill catering, but also having dessert stations for one to grab and go, friendship bracelet stations, of course ribbon tying where you write your wishes on a ribbon and tie it onto the cannon. The main attractions were a 70 ft Nuclear Obstacle course, Toxic Battle Joust, Toxic Meltdown, a Giant Waterslide, and a huge carnival game. 500+ checked in, it was a great crowd considering the event date had to change due to the weather.
Ticket Release Party – Tuesday, October 7th
This year’s Colchis Ticket Release Party was different. However, still a nice vibe, bringing students together for an awesome night filled with music. Instead of it being its own event and people coming out, Homecoming made it to where it was after the Silent Set Volleyball game, practically partnering with Athletics in a way. People were able to secure their tickets for the long-awaited Colchis Concert while waiting for the artist’s reveal. This year’s Colchis Concert featured Luh Tyler and Neon Trees; the reactions were widespread.
Cardboard Boat Race – Wednesday, October 8th
More than 400 students registered to watch the Cardboard Boat Race, generating a tense environment at the Aquatic Center pool. The packed-out crowd was lit as GFC Teams, Homecoming Court members, and faculty used their creativity to maneuver their cardboard and tape-only boat across the pool to win. As everyone rooted for their favorites to win without sinking, splashes flew everywhere, and people in the crowd got soaked, too.
Colchis Concert – Thursday, October 8th
This year’s Colchis was a memorable night that brought the energy out of everyone like never before. Showcasing two different genres this year, Rap and Pop, this drew the attention of a massive crowd, which, of course, created a time full of music and dancing. 1,000-plus students attended this event, making it the largest attendance in Homecoming history for this Colchis Concert.
Homecoming Court Halftime – Thursday, October 8th
Game Day was packed with community pride, school spirit, and Argo energy! The stadium was crowded to cheer on the team, as the UWF football team went ahead to beat Chowan in a big fashion with a final score of 40-10. At halftime, the excitement peaked as Lundy Phillips and Jeff Bissainthe were crowned this year’s Homecoming Royalty. A remarkable moment to finish off a week-long celebration of Argo Pride.
