The West Florida Argos had a double-header softball match against Alabama Huntsville Chargers last Saturday. Finding themselves in for a battle after losing 8-3 in the day’s first game, the Argos pulled a victorious 7-3 win in the final game. UWF is now 22-11 (15-6 Gulf South Conference) in the standing record while the Chargers are 22-14 (11-9 GSC).

The Chargers started off hot in game one, as Kiara Akles drove in six runs thanks to her first two great at-bats. She hit a two-run homer before following that up with a grand slam that helped bring the Chargers to victory.

Another noticeable performance from the Charges was by Layton Murphy, who pitched 6.2 innings and scattered six hits, allowing the three runs the Argos were able to obtain, while striking out five, and managing to pick up her eighth victory this season.

Not much going on for the Argos in game one, there was a noticeable performance in center field for the Lady Argos by Jessica Ford. Even while down, she was able to accumulate out after out in sometimes ‘superwoman’ fashion.

Game one in Pensacola was at its most lively when the Argos got two of the runs back in the bottom of the third to make it a 4-3 game, the three runs in total being scored by Teala Howard, 1; Erin Moon, 1; and Ayana Powell, 1.
