Students at the University of West Florida are working to raise money and awareness for Gulf Coast Kid’s House to help end child abuse in Escambia County.

Gulf Coast Kid’s House, a local non-profit organization, provides services to child abuse victims. The Communication Leadership class at UWF has decided to help Gulf Coast Kid’s House with its mission to end child abuse as their class project.

Since January, students have advocated for Gulf Coast Kid’s House at Pensacon, Gallery Night, Sammy Barker’s, an Ice Flyer’s game, the WAVES volleyball tournament, and several UWF Campus locations.

Students have planned a community-wide Field Day held at the NEP ballpark on Friday, April 1, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. For the entrance fee, you can pay $5 or bring an item to donate.

The Field Day includes a kickball game for adults, a tee-ball game for children, as well as a bouncy house, temporary tattoos, bubbles, chalk, frisbee, and cornhole. Buffalo Wild Wings is sponsoring the event and will be catering.

The UWF students working with Gulf Coast Kid’s House want everyone to come to Field Day and have a good time while supporting a great cause.

April is Child Abuse Prevention month, and blue represents child abuse. Show your support for Gulf Coast Kid’s House and these UWF students by attending Field Day and wearing blue.

The students have a class goal of raising $1,000 for Gulf Coast Kid’s House and increasing local awareness of child abuse by having 1,500 people complete the KnowChildAbuse training video by April 29 .

To complete the training video, go to Knowchildabuse.org, click on start training, take it as an organization, and select UWF Communications Class Spring 2022.
