West Georgia was able to stifle UWF’s offense, but almost every time the Argonauts needed a bucket, someone stepped up, and many times throughout the night it was Brewer.

Even with the first half that Brewer put together, tallying 13 points and 10 rebounds on her own, the Argonauts faced a 29-20 deficit at halftime.

The second half didn’t start off much better for the Argonauts as Hall picked up her second and third fouls less than halfway into the third quarter.

But Brewer continued to do as she pleased in the paint, and UWF cut West Georgia’s lead to six points after Brewer scored three baskets with Hall on the bench.

Danielle Norquest caught West Georgia’s defense creeping in towards Brewer after that, and thanks to the space, Norquest knocked down a 3-pointer to bring the Argonauts within three.

Moments later, after another Brewer basket, Hall found Bistrow on a fast break and the Argonauts took their first lead of the night.

A D’Asia Collins layup pushed the Argonauts’ lead to three, but West Georgia came back to tie the game at 39-39 and again at 43-43.

West Georgia rallied to take another lead, and with 15 seconds left in the game the Argonauts trailed by three points.

With one second left, the Argonauts were down three and had one last chance to tie, but it resulted in a missed 3-pointer.

Following the loss, UWF will have to hope that their regional ranking doesn’t drop for the Argonauts to maintain their hold on a top five ranking, which would result in a regional tournament bid.

“When we get our name called for that NCAA Tournament, hopefully we can find that fire in us to finish the season strong,” Lawrence Yelton said.

The South Region’s tournament will be played March 15, 16 and 18 at the location of the region’s top seed.
