But the Choctaws would outlast UWF and go on to win the contest after going on an 8-1 run.
The leading scorer for UWF was redshirt freshman wing Jon Brown, who finished with 25 points, eight rebounds and one steal.
Brown has now scored at least 15 points in his last seven games and at least 20 in his last four. Senior Jarret Henderson has gone six straight games with at least 14 points.
After the game, seniors Rashaan Benson, Ventoniemi, Henderson and team manager Ray Brooks were honored for all their hard work and dedication to the basketball program.
The Argos will host Valdosta State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the UWF Field House.
