October 14, 2020
Shane Rei Davis, 23, was arrested Sept. 24 for making numerous threats toward the University of West Florida.
The Pace man was apprehended by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI after receiving an anonymous tip about the threats. Davis was booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail with a bond of $1 million.
Davis made the threats toward UWF on Sept. 22 via an online gaming system.
“The University took immediate action and is cooperating with authorities to the fullest extent possible,” UWF said in an email sent out to students on Sept. 25. “The safety of the campus community is the University’s top priority. These matters are taken very seriously and our UWF Police officers are well-trained and prepared for these types of situations.”
According to deputies, Davis’ threats were “specific in nature.”
