This week, Destin and Fort Walton Beach are packed with events for locals and visitors to enjoy. From a major art festival to a live rock concert and a family fishing clinic, the Emerald Coast has something for everyone who is looking to have fun.
The biggest celebration of the week is the 30th Annual Festival of the Arts at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin, taking place Oct. 26-27. More than 100 artists from around the southeast will showcase their works, ranging from paintings and photography to sculptures and jewelry. Live music, food trucks and interactive art stations will be present at the event. This event is one of the Emerald Coast’s longest running traditions, which attracts thousands each year.
Sunday, Oct. 26, at Docie’s Dock in Fort Walton Beach, Saving Abel takes the stage. The Mississippi-based rock band is known for its hits like “Addicted” and “18 Days”. They will headline an evening of performances along the waterfront.
For families looking for something more hands-on, MarineMax Fort Walton Beach will host a free kids’ fishing clinic on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 to 11 a.m. The event gives children a chance to learn basic fishing skills and ocean safety from local captains, while promoting marine conservation and appreciation for the Gulf’s natural beauty.
From art and music to family fun, this week’s events show the best of the Emerald Coast and its colorful and creative community spirit.
