Across seven different sports, UWF student-athletes showed once again why Argonaut Nation is one of the most dominant programs in Division II athletics. From record-breaking performances to national rankings and milestone victories, it was a big week for the Blue and Green.
Men’s Golf
History was made on the course this week. Head Coach Steve Fell captured his 100th career tournament win, a milestone achievement that cements his legacy as one of the best in the game. The Argos also returned to the No. 1 national ranking, proving they remain the team to beat.
Adding to the momentum, Henrik Ekelund took home the individual title at the Copperhead Championship, continuing the team’s hot streak as they prepare for the Golfweek DII Invitational next week in South Carolina.
Women’s Soccer
The nationally ranked Argos kept their winning ways going with a 3–1 non-conference victory over Middle Georgia State on Tuesday. Earlier in the week, Mya Swinton and Olof Thorvaldsdottir were the difference makers in a 2–1 road win, showcasing UWF’s ability to finish strong.
Men’s Soccer
UWF Men’s Soccer keeps climbing. The Argos moved up to No. 19 in the latest United Soccer Coaches rankings, showing their strong early-season form isn’t going unnoticed. Over the weekend, the Argos battled Montevallo to a 1–1 draw, coming off a 1–0 win over AUM.
Volleyball
Big recognition came this week as Kumara Flanagain earned GSC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The No. 16 Argos kept their winning streak rolling with a 3–0 sweep over Mississippi College and a 3–1 victory over West Alabama.
Next up? One of the most significant matches of the year, the 18th Annual Pack It Pink Match on October 18 at 2 PM, as the team rallies around breast cancer awareness. Expect energy, emotion, and a packed Field House.
Football
It’s been a storybook season so far for UWF Football, and it got even better with three Argos earning GSC Weekly Awards: Marcus Stokes, Walker Robinson, and Michael Shine.
The Argos are coming off a historic Homecoming win over Chowan, marking the best start in program history. With a top-10 matchup looming this weekend, all eyes are on how far this team can go.
Cross Country
UWF Cross Country delivered one of its most impressive weekends. The men’s team set multiple personal records and season bests at the UAH Charger Invitational, while on the women’s side, Jessica Chappell set a new program record with three Argos landing in the top 10 program record book.
The energy and depth in both squads are peaking at the right time as they prepare for the GSC Championships later this month.
Women’s Swimming & Diving
The Argos made a strong splash at Auburn with a standout showing from Olivia Nelson, who earned second place in two dives. It’s early in the season, but this team is already making waves as they gear up for their next competition at FSU.
