The Iota Phi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi and the Department of Accounting and Finance held its annual “Meet the Firms” networking event this past Tuesday. The event gave UWF students the opportunity to network with professionals within the field they are interested in.
Over 100 students who were seeking full-time, internship, and/or Co-op positions with accounting firms were given the opportunity to speak with 22 different employers about the various opportunities they offer.

Martin CPA, one of the firms present at the event gave us some insight on why they attend these college career events and what they are looking to get out of it for their firm. “We are trying to get some younger talent,” they said. “We have a small accounting firm and we are looking to see who is interested.”
Timothy Moore, the Director of Career Services, stated that they were extremely happy with the turnout this year and exceeded their goal for attendees by over 40 students.
“We were thrilled with the record-breaking turnout, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going with our upcoming events,” said Moore. “Even if students aren’t currently job hunting, career fairs are a great way to network, explore options, and hear directly from recruiters about what makes a strong candidate.”
