Across six different sports, UWF student-athletes proved once again that Argonaut Nation doesn’t just compete, we rise.
Football:

It’s not just about winning, it’s how you win. The Argos kept their perfect season alive with a thrilling 25-17 road win over North Greenville on Sept. 20. The Argos scored within the last 2:26 of the game with what was called a “game sealing touchdown” which kept the game so suspenseful.
This team continues to find ways to get it done, even under pressure. And with momentum building week after week, the Argos are looking more and more like a serious postseason threat.
Men’s Soccer:
The men’s soccer team came out swinging in their GSC opener on Sept. 19, blanking Delta State 3–0 with a commanding performance that sent a clear message: the Argos are here to contend.
Just two days later, they battled Mississippi College to a 2–2 draw in a test of stamina and resilience. A four-point conference weekend? We’ll take it, and the Argos will build from here.
Women’s Soccer:

The nationally-ranked No. 6 UWF Women’s Soccer team is locked in.
After a scoreless draw at Delta State on Sept. 19, the Argos bounced back in a big way with a 2–1 win over Mississippi College on Sept. 21. Their ability to stay composed and capitalize under pressure is exactly what you want to see from a top-10 team heading into October.
Volleyball:
It was a weekend of high-stakes matches for No. 19 UWF Volleyball, starting with a solid win over Florida Southern on Sept. 19. But the biggest test came the next day against No. 3 Tampa, and the Argos were right there in a back-and-forth contest that showed just how tough this team really is.
Despite the tight loss, UWF proved they belong among the nation’s elite.
Cross Country:

Talk about a breakout weekend.
Leading the charge was freshman Elyse Carmichael, who broke the school’s 6K record, topping the previous mark set just last year by current teammate Ava Baldauf. But it wasn’t just about her. This was a full-team performance. Five Argos placed in the top 20, helping UWF lock down a second-place finish overall and the title of top Division II team at the meet, ahead of conference rival West Alabama, no less.
The UWF Men’s Cross Country team continued their strong start to the season with a third-place team finish out of 14 programs at the Firehawk Invitational. Leading the pack for the third straight meet was Carson King, who delivered a standout performance with a personal-best time to finish third overall out of 109 runners. But he wasn’t alone, five Argos landed in the top 30, and three cracked the top 15, showcasing the balance and potential of this year’s roster.
