The UWF Football team is set to take center stage this Friday night on Pen-Air Field here in Pensacola, Florida, with a Top 20 matchup to kick off the season.
The UWF Argos, ranked at no. 8 in the nation (American Football Coaches Association poll), will take on Lenoir-Rhyne’s no. 17 Bears in an all-encompassing battle to set a precedent for the remainder of the season.
As a brief reminder, Argo’s football history only dates back to 2016. In their short time of competition, they have achieved significant recognition, including being national runner-up in the 2018 season and national champions in the 2019 season.
This season is highly anticipated as the Argos hope to return to the NCAA playoffs after missing the playoffs for the first time in five years last season. With this in mind, Coach Nobles and the team are eager for this non-conference matchup with a great opponent to kick off the season.
The Argos conference remains smaller in size, with only three other teams in the league, including West Alabama, Valdosta State, and Delta State. Their first conference pairing will take place during week eight, when they will play the West Alabama Tigers here at Pen Air field.
If you are interested in attending the game at Pen Air Credit Union Field, tickets are available on GoArgos.com and for students through the ArgoPulse app. The kick-off will take place at 6 PM, with the tailgate preceding it.
