There’s Something for Everyone at UWF Health and Leisure
September 4, 2022
Have you always wanted to start a workout plan but never had a place to go or didn’t know where to begin?
Fitness opportunities at the UWF Health and Leisure facility have something for everyone, from beginners to trained athletes.
Anyone who wants to work out and carries a Nautilus Card is welcome to give it a try.
Don’t know how to start?
Fitness monitors are on the floor to assist patrons, showing them how to use all the equipment, be a spotter when needed, and clean the equipment, as well as the differences in the machines.
“If someone doesn’t have much experience with exercise and putting together a workout, I would highly recommend they take advantage of our personal training services,” said Jennifer Johnson, assistant director of the Health and Leisure facility.
“Each UWF student receives one free personal training session and trying out a group fitness class,” Johnson added.
The facility offers group fitness classes, including flow and slow yoga, spin, circuit, body sculpting, high intensity cycling, bootcamp, and cardio dance.
The lower fitness weight contains strength and conditioning equipment, free weights, barbells, squat machines, kettlebells, and more.
The upper fitness floor consists of free weight equipment, benches, squat racks, lifting platforms, selectorized equipment, and a circuit area with a tire flip machine, battle rope, rowers, a SkiErg, and Assault Bike.
The facility also has a 1/8-mile track for runners and walkers, in addition to four basketball courts, four racquet ball courts, a pedagogy room, volleyball nets, and a climbing center.
For hygiene purposes, men’s, women’s, and gender-neutral locker rooms are available with shower stalls, along with day lockers to keep your personal items safe while you’re working out.
To sign up for group fitness classes, download the IMLeagues app and follow the prompts.
Facility hours for the fall semester are as follows:

Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday (beginning September 16), 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
