The Pensacola Museum of Art opened its 65th annual Members Art Show on Friday with a soft opening that welcomed members and visitors to view the show.
The Members Art Show is an annual event where museum members can submit their artwork for exhibition. The artwork is judged by a guest juror who determines the awards. Richard McCabe is the 2019 Guest Award Juror for this year’s show.

The Members Art Show is a chance for members to exhibit their artwork and be recognized for their contributions to the community and to the museum.
“Members are our greatest supporters,” said Visitor Experience Manager Wendi Davis. “We just want to show them our appreciation and give them thanks.”
Over 100 members submitted their artwork, which is now exhibited in two galleries on the first floor of the museum. The day that members submitted their work, the museum hosted a small event to say thank you. Members enjoyed free cupcakes, popcorn, meats and cheeses accompanied by complimentary champagne.
“We want to offer our appreciation for our members wanting to be a part of our mission as an institute of art,” Curator of Education Caitlyn Cooney said.
The Members Art Show is on exhibition until April 28 at the Pensacola Museum of Art. The opening reception is Friday from 6-8 p.m.
“This is just another way to show our thanks to our members,” Davis said. “Hopefully this can attract new members who provide a passion for our mission.”
If anyone is interested in becoming a member at the Pensacola Museum, there are varying annual rates and a discounted rate for students. They begin at $25 for students and $50 for non-students. More information on how to become a member can be found at http://www.pensacolamuseum.org/membership.html.
