On Tuesday, Nov. 27, the University of West Florida Department of Music will present the Jazz Ensemble in concert, with special guest Escambia High Jazz, in the mainstage theater.

High school students who participate in musical programs often long for an opportunity to take their craft further and perform at a college level, and for students at Escambia High, that wish just came true. As the fall concert season comes to an end, the UWF music departments Jazz Ensemble has extended an invitation for Escambia High School’s Jazz Band to accompany them on the main stage theater.

This concert allows Escambia High Jazz to show off all of the hard work that they’ve put into perfecting their craft and gives them a college level performance experience. Many of the UWF student body anxiously await to see the concert, in hopes of a great show.

“I, along with many of my friends have always enjoyed the concerts put on by the music department here at UWF,” Amanda Knox, a UWF student, said. “I’m excited to see the collaboration between the college and high school students.”

Join the UWF Jazz Ensemble and Escambia High Jazz “A” for a collaborative evening of large ensemble instrumental jazz. The performance will feature a variety of musical selections from various genres and artist. Escambia High Jazz will present works arranged by Dave Barduhn, Rick Stitzel, Sammy Nestico and more. The UWF Jazz Ensemble will present the music of Les Hooper, Alan Baylock, Stevie Wonder, Marty Paich and more.

At the close of Tuesday’s show, The UWF Jazz Ensemble and Escambia High Jazz will combine to perform the evening’s finale.
