The University of West Florida’s Volleyball extended their winning streak after their long home stretch, routing the Union Bulldogs and Christian Brothers 3-0. Sweeping them both in three sets.
The Argos (18-4, 10-1) will now set their sights to Orlando, Florida this weekend for the 2018 South Region Crossover Classic. This tournament has a combined total of 24 teams that are in the tournament. The teams in this tournament are teams from the Gulf South Conference and the Sunshine State Conference.
Senior Makila York has led the UWF with kills in their last few matches, with nine against both Union (13-8, 2-3) and against Christian Brothers (10-14, 3-8).
“From a team standpoint, my mentality centers around how do we continue to execute the game plan in order to keep our winning streak going,” said senior Makila York. “We ask ourselves constantly how do we push the envelope in order to be greater and elevate our game? Personally, I have been asking myself, ‘what more I can bring to this team in order to contribute to its success.’”
They are scheduled to play Florida Southern College (14-8, 9-5 SSC) Friday, Saint Leo (10-11, 7-6 SSC) Saturday, and then No. 6 University of Tampa (20-1, 13-0 SSC) Saturday well for the second match.
The University of Tampa has lost only to Drury State. UWF has played Tampa twice; once in Denver at the Colorado Premiere Challenge and again at the NCAA Division II South Regional, with UWF winning both times 3-1.
