For many people like Samantha Tillery, Pensacon is a place where their sci-fi and Anime fantasy comes alive. Thousands of people gather in the Pensacola Bay Center from all parts of the country for the weekend festivities.

“Many of us look forward to this all year,” Tillery said. “When its here everyone just comes together like a family, it’s great to be ourselves in a safe place that is Pensacon”.

The three-day event offered speed dating, costume workshops, movie screenings, Q&A from famous actors and novelists, and on the spot comic book artists. Even outside of Pensacon, restaurants like Fish House, Hopjacks, Perfect Plain, Tin Cow and Seville were decorated in themes ranging from “Rick and Morty” to “Game of Thrones” to “Harry Potter,” offering food- and drink- themed specials to their patrons all weekend.

Pensacon gives people the chance to meet and talk with their favorite characters and artists. This year, famous guests included featured Dennis O’Hare from “American Horror Story,” Jason Isaacs from “Harry Potter,” Charles Martinet known for being the voice of Mario from “Super Mario Bros.” and many others.

For many people, Pensacon is a place that changes lives. For Dennis and Vania Noriega, Pensacon was the place they fell in love.

“We met here at Pensacon two years ago, and we are now engaged,” Vania said. “Our love of Anime really brought us together and we have been coming back ever since.”
