Panhellenic in the Panhandle

Once  students attend college, some of the first things they see on campus are fraternities and sororities recruiting new and lively students to their families.  From Sept. 13-18, the University of West Florida fraternities and sororities will host the Panhellenic Recruitment to initiate new members into the societies.

Panhellenic is the governing body of all four national Panhellenic sororities at UWF, and the goal is to let every fraternity and sorority partner up and support why students should join their societies.

“My sisters are my family, my support system and my greatest allies,” Kelsey Horton, an Alpha Delta Pi member, said. “And without Panhellenic governing us, we would have no rules which would create tensions that no one needs.”

During the Panhellenic Recruitment week, sororities will hold many events to keep their recruits active, such as Sisterhood Night, Philanthropy Night, Preference Day and concluding with the Bid Night.

“Panhellenic is a great way for us to welcome newcomers into the community and make them feel a part of something great,” Jake Tomlin, a graduate assistant for Sorority and Fraternity Life, said.
