Sights and sounds of Cannon Fest

The University of West Florida held its annual Cannon Fest on Tuesday Oct. 19 on the Cannon Green in celebration of 2016 Homecoming.

Cannon Fest offered an assortment of activities for students, including a photo booth, a climbing maze, a blow-up battle arena and a psychic.

“Cannon Fest was a lot better than last year,” senior advertising major Nicole Renfroe said. “There wasn’t a lot of sorority and fraternity presence, so it felt more open to everyone.”

UWF Events Director Alex Francois was one of those moving factors to make Homecoming feel more accessible for students not involved in sorority and fraternity life. He had previously said that there were surveys taken specifically to make Homecoming better for the entire student body.

Buildings surrounding the Cannon Green displayed illustrations of school spirit and slogans like “Go Argos!” as well as cartoons of Argie, the school mascot.

“I had a lot of fun at Cannon Fest,” junior public relations major Savannah Richardson said. “I can’t wait to see what they do next year.”
